Dongaseu(Korean name of Japanese tonkatsu) is like a must food for almost all Koreans. As the Koreans do love it so much, there are many dongaseu restaurants in every corner of Korea. But such many numbers do not provide good places for it. The dongaseu house I’ve been today was not the one to visit […]
Japanese Sanuki udon with Chinese dumplings
I had Sanuki udon for lunch. The udon was not just noodles, but with Chinese shrimp dumplings, plus Argentinean red shrimps, expecting stronger shrimp flavour. The food was quite right, except for low-quality Chinese dumplings.
Home-cooked street food
My son made odeng-tang(fishcake soup). When eaten on the street in cold weather, it warms body and soul; however, at home, it tasted better because the quality of all the ingredients is excellent. With a bit of sliced rice cake, it has got more pleasure. However, it’s a shame that there’s no photo with sliced […]
Indulged night with fish, mainly à la française
Soyoung wanted to treat close friends to a course with winter fish: Cod, monkfish and amberjack. Those fish are high and best in the winter season in Korea. Eventually, eight friends joined the evening. The courses: Assorted raw Amberjack slices Salad with basil pesto Lightly grilled monkfish liver sauced with red-current-and-wine jam Grilled monkfish with […]
Homemade Ramen
Ramen my wife made. Soup, grilled pork, noodles, all made at home.

Though I’m quite abstinent to noodles these days, it’s hard to stop keeping on eating noodles for the sauce was too good. […]
Lost original taste, Ginza Bairin, Seoul
Ginza Bairin in Seoul. I liked the restaurant in the beginning. But since quite a while ago – assumably after the absence of Japanese chef – I hardly found any charm of any dish of the restaurant. Today I happen to have a hazardous rendezvous at the restaurant. When a couple of friends were having […]
Ramen in my way
I had Japanese instant ramen for lunch, but without soup powder. Instead, I put several drops of soybean sauce, and scallion, shiitake, beef, egg to make it tastier. When done, it seemed for me less instant and junky. It tasted not bad.
Sake with street food from Shinsegae
Here are some street foods but they are not from the street. Bought at Myeongdong Shinsegae department store. Looked fancy and appetising at the corner, we bought quite a quantity, even right after having had dinner. We had them at a friend’s. The taste betrayed the look. All the foods were awful. They felt like […]
