Remembering the last year of having suffered so much and hoping the next year to be better, my friend and I appreciated two bottles of gracious wine on Christmas day. Hermitage (Syrah) Pernand-Vergelesses (Chardonnay)
Poulet rôti with country chicken
I had poulet rôti with the chicken from the countryside. Started to share it with four people, then two more people joined. It was only one chicken but sufficient to enjoy fully for six people. I think I was most satisfied during the moment because there were three bottles of Burgundy wine. Chicken in French […]
American pie, Whoopie, a French girl baked
A French girl, Marine, baked one of her favourite cakes. It was ‘whoopie’. Although the whoopie is the US origin, she told me that she used to have baked the cake as she liked it a lot. The cake she baked today looked quite different from the images that I searched on google, but I […]
A rare occasion of magnificent wine and comparable food
Good wine, good food, they are not in daily events. In particular, it is a rare moment that the tasting buds and all the senses of the body arise with a sip of wine. It hardly happens, but this was the day. Started with cheap but savoury white wine from the South West region of […]
Making croissant at home
Eating a croissant is a joy, and the croissant made at home is a greater joy. Fresher and crispier with decent ingredients.
Rectangular quiche
I’ve got a quiche from the country home, but it looked flat. Presumably due to tight packaging and possibly brutal treat during the delivery. Besides, it’s an odd rectangular-shape, not typical round. Albeit various supposable oddities, it tasted formidable. I liked it a lot.
Indulged night with fish, mainly à la française
Soyoung wanted to treat close friends to a course with winter fish: Cod, monkfish and amberjack. Those fish are high and best in the winter season in Korea. Eventually, eight friends joined the evening. The courses: Assorted raw Amberjack slices Salad with basil pesto Lightly grilled monkfish liver sauced with red-current-and-wine jam Grilled monkfish with […]
Dinners in Jeju, fusses and joys
My friend couple, my son and his girlfriend, my wife and I visited Jeju Island for dinners at a friends’ café in Seogwipo. There was an event for two evening dinners. We had easy days during our stay in Jeju island thanks to Jeju friend’s sensitive care. The dinners: Guests were chiefly Jeju settlers from […]
Rare supper with all those were excellent
Had hors-d’oeuvre with some rice cake and Kimchi, Started with thin steak, then thick steak, with braised cabbage and grilled sliced potatoes. The beef was excellent and the ten-year-aged wine, Chateau Sergant 2007, was wonderous with the meat. After eating the meat, I was more than sufficiently set, yet kept on having sweet potato roasted […]
