Black bean sauced noodles at Hyodonggak

2018-04-07

I was starving and obliged to visit a restaurant that I’ve never been to after getting information that there’s a wonderful Chinese restaurant where I was then.

The restaurant, Hyodonggak, was located side block of the Yonsei university college of dentist. It served jajangmyeon(noodles in black bean sauce) only.

Jajangmyeon looked quite right. Noodles were good. No MSG taste as they say. However, there’s one serious problem: sweetness. I felt the sauce overwhelmingly too sweet. It would be better call the sauce sugar sauce.

I asked myself whether I would visit again for black bean sauced noodles. My answer was yes and no. Yes, in that the dish contains less or no MSG, and no in that it is overly sweet.
